Wound Strings are made up of 80% copper and 20% zinc wire wrapped around a tin-plated steel core wire in a hex form. Plain strings are constructed of tin-plated high carbon steel that has been properly tempered. The most widely used acoustic guitar string alloy produces a well-balanced sound with crisp, pleasant highs.
