Quality Tonewoods

The 2018 SE Custom 24 is crafted from resonant and warm-sounding mahogany with a maple top for added bright overtones and harmonic sparkle. This classic combination is married up to a maple neck and smooth rosewood fingerboard, providing the mid-focus and resonant tonal basis for this guitar.

PRS Playability

The Custom 24 range is designed to bring the best of classic guitar designs in a ‘half-way’ instrument that has its own distinct voice. A 25” scale length is the ideal compromise for easy string bends but still provides the correct string tension for long sustain and thick tones. The double cutaway asymmetric body and low-profile set-neck joint provide easy access to all 24 frets, with the lower horn featuring a bevelled cut to further assist your left hand. Medium frets are smoothly finished and the whole guitar sits comfortably in your hands, providing an effortless playing experience across the whole fingerboard. The inclusion of 24 frets would usually have connotations of a rock/metal inspired ‘shred’ guitar, but here you can have all the playability of a 24-fret instrument with the great looks of a classic guitar alongside a versatile yet distinct tonal voice.

Electronic Versatility

PRS brought the 85/15 “S” pickups to the SE range in 2017 and ever since they have been delivering a versatile performance. With a 3-way switch they can access powerful bridge tones and mellow flute-like sounds, to cover all bases from clean sounds through to overdriven aggression or biting lead sounds. They are very responsive to player dynamics and volume/tone control adjustments and will provide a vintage-vibe tonal range with increased versatility. The tone control acts as a push/pull switch to access coil-tapping for single-coil sounds. These features make the PRS SE Custom 24 a versatile instrument, with an ability to flick effortlessly between genres; it could be a session player’s ideal one-guitar setup.
